In this Wev page, we introduce the carvings of the flying poses of the wild birds observed in Japan. The flying poses of the wild birds may be considered the typical examples of the dynamic beauty of form in nature. We consider the flying dynamics and make use of a method in proportion to CG one in the designing, express them as multi-value and multi-scale curved surface object, and take into account the science of form and the science of colar in the carving and the painting.
To be concrete, in the first place, we select 20 typical flying poses of Japanese wild birds in different conditions and produce their first works. We intend to represent the flying scene characterized the flying way particular to each bird in a short time scale, which may be related to the size, shape and structure of the wings and feathers proper to each bird. If necessary, we produce the modified and corrected works by the knowledges on the wild birds and the producting technics which will be progress in the first works.
The first selected 20 poses are as the following:
(1) Soaring of black kite (using an
arising current)
(2)
Hanging of common buzzard (using a slope upflow)
(3) Soaring of short-tailed
albatross (using the boundary layer)
(4) Diving of common kingfisher
(5) Diving of peregrine
falcon
(6) Beating
flight of red-crowned crane (using a joint)
(7) Beating flight of great egret
(using two joints)
(8)
Beating flight of pigeon (with back drive)
(9) Bounding flight of Japanese
pied wagtail
(10) Sharp
turn of house swallow
(11) Hovering of tree sparrow
(12) Vertical rising of
skylark
(13) Taking off
of bewick's swan (with approach run)
(14) Taking off of mallard
(without approach run)
(15) Taking off of eastern turtle
dove (without approach run)
(16) Vertical taking off of
Japanese pheasant
(17)
Taking off of merlin on a tree
(18) Landing of spotbill duck
(19) Throw up landing
of bull-geaded shrike
(20) Flying of common guillemot in
the water
The flying pose is a complicated system of the multi-structure with respect to length and time. In the expression of such a pose, the flying dynamics may provide an important guid. People say that the dynamically ideal pose is felt the most natural and beautiful. The dynamical features in the flying poses will note for each work.
There are many bird carvings of the flying poses in Japan since old times and we can find the surprising beatuies and truths in them. I like to introduce them in appropriate places.
