Oshiro-Go...
Oshiro(Castle)-Go was officially started at Shogun's presence in the castle from 1626.
The first match, Nakamura Doseki(Meijin) vs. Yasui Santetsu I, was held by the request of Iemitsu, Tokugawa Shogun III, in the Nijyo-jyo(castle).
The Castle-Go was continued in the Edo(Tokyo)-castle till 1863 and the game records were survived more than 500.
The participants were qualified for 4-families and Jozu(7-dan) or higher rank as a rule. Success in the match has been the first step to a successful career for a number of Go players. They devoted themselves to their studies for the honor of the family.
The keen competition has brought about great progress in Japanese Go level.
Santetsu-dono said he had the secret opening getting from the astronomy. He tried Tengen as a first move.
Dosaku used to adopt Moku-hazushi in his youth. It showed his protean form.
Both records were played in the castle.
