Story 17

Meijin-Godokoro...
Tokugawa Ieyasu subjugated the Daimyos and gained hegemony over the whole of Japan after Hideyoshi's death. He established the Tokugawa shogunate in Edo(now Tokyo) in 1600 and the Edo period continued to 1867. The long peaceful days made Go entering the age of matured culture.
He also an ardent Go fan. When he advanced to Great General in 1603, Sansa was invited as his coach and instructed with 5-stones handicap same as Nobunaga and Hideyoshi.
Sansa was officially awarded the Meijin-Godokoro by him. The post of Go-gokoro had absolute authority over other players and family, so even if other family's player, his promotion was necessary for Godokoro's permission. And Meijin who was the strongest player at the time, only could take up it's post.
