Meijin! ..you are!...said warloard Nobunaga....
Nikkai developed Fuseki opening and his strategic thought beat perfectly other Jozu(skilfull player) who believed in fighting power was the only strength criterion at that time.
Warloard Oda Nobunaga who was intending to unify the countries, often visited to Kyoto and at there invited Nikkai for his Go instructor.
Nobunaga admired his strength and strategic idea and referred to him as 'Meijin'.
When Nikkai and Kashio Rigen played in Nobunaga's presence at Honno-ji(temple) and it is said, a triple-Ko happened. After they left, the disturbance Honnoji occured at next early morning.
Nobunaga's subordinate general Akechi Mitsuhide destroyed his unification ambition on 02 June 1582.
